This is the Red Gate. Its proper name is the East Gate, but it is known as the Red Gate from its vermilion color. The Akamonsuji shopping street that extends on from this gate was once bustling with worshippers from the Marugame and Tadotsu regions. The wonder-working Akamon-Shichibutsu-Yakushi Bhaisajyaguru is enshrined in this shopping arcade, and many worshippers flock there to pray for the miracle that will help breast milk to flow easily.
